BTCfactura.com – platform launched in 2016 to pay utility bills and digital vouchers with Bitcoin. Our team has been accepting Bitcoin online since October 6, 2014. Featured by CoinDesk in 2020.
BTCfactura in short
BTCfactura.com is a platform launched in 2016 to pay digital services with Bitcoin: utility bills, prepaid vouchers, gift cards and mobile top-ups. We process Bitcoin payments directly through our own self-hosted BTCPay Server node, with no custodial intermediaries like BitPay.
We operate under Digital Payments SRL (VAT RO38316257, J5/2640/2017), the same entity that runs our sister platform ppay.ro, online since 2013 and among the first Romanian platforms to accept Bitcoin (since October 6, 2014).

We launch BTCfactura.com as a brand dedicated to paying utility bills with Bitcoin – the first Romanian platform specialized exclusively on this use case.

Self-hosted BTCPay Server + Digital Payments SRL

CoinDesk – BTCfactura and the Transylvania Lightning node
The article “Lightning Operators Are Bracing for a Bitcoin Bull Run” published by CoinDesk interviews us directly and mentions our Lightning node Transylvania as an example of an active operator preparing its infrastructure for Lightning Network adoption growth.
- 2026
10 years of BTCfactura · 12 years of Bitcoin in our ecosystem
We continue running BTCfactura.com to pay utility bills and vouchers with Bitcoin/Lightning. The catalog covers hundreds of digital vouchers (PaySafeCard, Skrill, Revolut, Wise, Mastercard, Visa and others) and bill payments for the main Romanian utility suppliers.
Why self-hosted BTCPay Server
BTCPay Server is the open-source standard for self-hosted Bitcoin payment processing – no processing fee, no merchant-side KYC, no custodians between you and the payment. Your Bitcoin transactions reach our node directly, with no intermediaries like BitPay or other custodial gateways. We use BTCPay Server in production since 2017, and our Transylvania Lightning node is active and mentioned in the 2020 CoinDesk article.
About the team
The BTCfactura team operates from Bihor (Paleu) and actively contributes to the Bitcoin open-source ecosystem. Our founder was interviewed by CoinDesk in 2020 (link above) to discuss Lightning Network infrastructure and its implications for retail payments in Eastern Europe.
